Life Insurance with Sjogren’s Syndrome

Life Insurance with Sjogren's SyndromeIf you suffer from Sjogren’s Syndrome, you’re one of an estimated four million Americans who suffer from the condition. The disease affects both men and women, but mostly women in their 40s or older. In this article, I’ll cover life insurance options with Sjogren’s Syndrome and what you can expect when looking for a policy.

We know that shopping for life insurance can be a confusing process, but that’s why we are here to help. It’s our mission to ensure that you’re getting the best plan for you and your family. Life insurance is one of the best investments that you could ever make for the future of your family. It’s one of the only ways that you can give them the money that they need if something awful were to happen to you.

Before you Shop for Life Insurance

There are a few key items to know when looking for a policy. First, not all life insurance companies underwrite in the same way. In plain English that means that while one company may decline someone with Sjogren’s, another may approve. If you’ve been declined it’s possible that you applied with a company that is more conservative in their life insurance underwriting guidelines.

We also recommend that you use a high risk life insurance agent if you have any pre-existing health condition such as Sjogren’s. We aren’t just saying that because we specialize in high risk, we say it because working with an agent who has already helped someone in your situation get approved will give you a better chance of seeing the same results.

Life Insurance with Sjogren’s: What Life Insurance Companies Want to Know

Here are some questions that a life insurance company will want to know. To get the answers they will require an exam, and review your prescription and medical records. If however you have these answers upfront, we can give you an idea of what to expect as far as your ability to get approved for coverage.

  • When were you diagnosed?
  • What are your current symptoms? Many people with Sjogren’s suffer from dry mouth and eyes.
  • What is the current treatment? Are you taking medications? If so which ones and how often?
  • Do you have any other conditions often associated with Sjogren’s such as Rheumatoid Arthritis or Lupus?

If your condition is mild, or moderate and controlled well with treatment we should be able to help you get approved for life insurance.

Your rates will most likely be higher than Standard rates and we can provide you with a quote after speaking with you and getting the answers to the questions above. If the condition is more severe we can still pursue a graded benefit life insurance policy.

No Exam Life Insurance Possibilities

If you have been declined in the past, there are still several options for getting life insurance coverage. One option is to purchase a no exam plan. These policies allow you to get life insurance protection, without having to take the medical exam. For some people, this can be an excellent option.

There are several pros and cons to these plans that you should be aware of when you’re shopping for insurance.

One of the most notable benefits of these plans is how quickly you can get accepted for insurance protection. Without the medical exam, you won’t have to wait 6 weeks to get life insurance. Instead, you can be approved in a matter of days. All that you have to do is answer their medical questionnaire. If you want to get life insurance faster, a no exam plan is going to be a better option.

One of the drawbacks of these policies is that you’re going to pay more every month for the plan. Without the medical exam, the insurance company is taking a higher risk, and they are going to charge you more for your plan. You’ll pay two or three times more every month for your no exam plan.

Another disadvantage to these plans is how much coverage that you can buy. Most companies are only going to allow you to purchase as much as $250,000 worth of protection. For most families, this won’t be nearly enough coverage. Not having enough life insurance is one of the worst mistakes that you could ever make for your loved ones.

Don’t Give Up

Life insurance is one of the most important purchases that you’ll ever make for your loved ones. Not having life insurance would leave your family with a massive amount of additional bills and expenses that they wouldn’t have the money to cover.

You never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, which means that you shouldn’t wait any longer to get the coverage that you and your family deserve.
